The Qube building was designed by Rhone and Iredale and constructed in 1969. After the main structural core was constructed, the floors were then constructed from the top floor down. The building won the 1969 Design in Steel Award from the American Iron and Steel Institute. It is still considered one of the most earthquake resistant buildings in Vancouver. The Qube building housed the headquarters of the Westcoast Transmission Co. until 2000. In 2004 it was converted to condos.
